Understanding Vein Disease

Vein Disease Is Not Just Cosmetic

Varicose veins and vein disease can be more than a cosmetic issue. They may be associated with leg heaviness, swelling, aching, cramping, skin changes, and symptoms that worsen after standing or sitting for long periods.

What Is Vein Disease?

Healthy leg veins help move blood back toward the heart. When the valves in the veins stop working properly, blood can pool in the legs. This can lead to pressure, swelling, aching, heaviness, visible veins, and skin changes over time.

Our Primary Vein Treatment

Vein Closure with Radiofrequency (EVRFA)

EVRFA is a minimally invasive treatment used to close certain diseased veins. A thin tube is placed into the affected vein and uses heat to seal it shut, allowing blood to reroute through healthier veins.

When treatment is recommended, the procedure is performed in a facility setting with local anesthesia and sedation options for patient comfort. Our team will explain what to expect before, during, and after treatment.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Varicose veins are often not dangerous, but they can be associated with underlying vein disease. A vein evaluation can help determine if there is vein disease present and whether treatment is appropriate.

Yes. The ultrasound shows us which veins are causing the problem. It's painless and done right in our office.

No. The area is numbed first with local anesthesia, and sedation options are available for patient comfort. Most patients feel only a warm sensation. There's very little pain during or after.

Most people get back to normal life the same day or the next. We ask you to skip hard exercise for about a week. You may need to wear support stockings for a few days.

The veins we treat are closed for good. New ones can form over time, but follow-up visits and small lifestyle changes help keep them away.

We accept many leading insurance plans. If your veins cause pain, swelling, or other symptoms, your plan may cover the visit and treatment. Cosmetic-only cases may not be covered. Call our office and our staff can verify your benefits and walk you through your specific plan.
